D-DNS.JP now supports IPv6

You can now register and update an IPv6 address (an AAAA record) for your hosts on D-DNS.JP.

How to update

Use the dyndns2-compatible update (/nic/update) that routers, NAS devices and ddclient use, and give an IPv6 address in myip. List an IPv4 and an IPv6 address separated by a comma, and one update rewrites both the A and the AAAA record.

https://d-dns.jp/nic/update?hostname=example.d-dns.jp&myip=203.0.113.10,2001:db8::1

Authentication is HTTP Basic with the e-mail address and password you registered. The reply is good (updated) or nochg (no change), followed by the address that was set. One request can name up to 20 hosts.

Notes

  • The D-DNS.JP servers themselves cannot be reached over IPv6 yet. Send your updates over IPv4 (pass the IPv6 address in myip). We are preparing to add IPv6 to the servers.
  • Updates from DiCE (/?dyn) remain IPv4-only. The tools that show your address and check an open port are IPv4-only too.
  • For the IPv6 address, use a stable global address (2000::/3) rather than a temporary one.
  • A button to delete the AAAA record is being prepared for My page.
